With those aspirations in mind, our network’s new name, Funders for Reproductive Equity, is purposefully ambitious, and is reflected in the way we pronounce our acronym, FRE: “free.”
FRE centers our strategies and programs on sound principles of equity because reproductive health does not play out on a level playing field; rather, it manifests differently for different people, and depending on various factors including race, ethnicity and income level. In this cultural and political time when bigotry has no shame and income inequality is surging, we are called on to proclaim our commitment to reproductive equity.”
